Vegas Power Rankings

I know that NASCAR.Com has a power rankings list for every race. I don’t always agree with it. So here is mine. Like it or not I don’t care, it’s my opinion. My rankings are partially based on points, partially based on how well they are running recently.

.) Jimmie Johnson ~ I hate it as much as anyone else but we are talking about a guy that hasn’t been out of the top 10 in points for like 2 or 3 seasons now. Plus he has finishes of 1 and 2 this year.
.) Casey Mears ~ Ever have that dream where you are running as fast and hard as you can to get that prize and you can’t quite get there? That’s how Mears must feel right now. He will get it though.
.) Matt Kenseth ~ Is anyone else worried about consistency from this team? If he wins one more race at least they won’t pick on him for winning a championship and only one race. Come to think of it wasn’t Vegas where he did win that year?
.) Mark Martin ~ If he could get those AAA cars to run like those Scott’s trucks we might not even need to run the rest of the races.
.) Dale Earnhardt Jr. ~ He may not be where he was 2 years ago, but you have to admit that this year so far is better that last year, if he could get one of those Blue Angels jet engines in his car… hmm… he wouldn’t need anyone to help him in the draft.
.) Tony Stewart ~ No his points spot isn’t great, but he’s still the same Tony. Watch out if his engine can last as long as his determination.
.) Jeff Burton ~ Remember a few years ago when he was dangerous on almost any track? Remember when he almost ended Jeff Gordon’s No Bull Million Dollar Run? Yeah watch out! I think he’s back.
.) Elliot Sadler ~ He’s running well, but I still think this team needs a little push. Maybe he can borrow the truck with the jets on the back. Then he and Dale Jr. can draft together and Elliot won’t end up on his roof anymore.
.) Carl Edwards ~ I just don’t know if he’s ever heard of a sophomore slump. We’ll see what happens at Vegas.
.) Greg Biffle ~ I didn’t want to put him here because 38th in points isn’t top ten material, but this needs to be said. He may have lead the most laps at Fontana but that doesn’t mean you win. It’s early and look what Kenseth did last year, but he does need to finish a race to start that kind of climb.
